Viscosity and Friction Reduction of Double-End-Capped Polyalkylene Glycol Nanolubricants for Eco-Friendly Refrigerant

In sustainable tribology, researchers are investigating methods to enhance tribological performance by incorporating nanoparticles into lubricants. However, one potential drawback of this strategy is increased lubricant viscosity. The current study aimed assess the impact these on viscosity and coefficient friction (COF) nanolubricants. Three different nanolubricants were synthesized through a two-step process, including mono-nanolubricants (Al2O3/DEC PAG SiO2/DEC PAG) hybrid (Al2O3-SiO2/DEC PAG), at volume concentrations between 0.01% 0.05%. shear flow behavior evaluated using digital rheometer, while COF was measured Koehler four-ball tribometer. All showed Newtonian during experiments. dynamic velocity increment found be lowest (1.88%), followed Al2O3-SiO2/DEC (2.74%) Al2O3/DEC (3.56%). indices all improved only higher concentrations. At concentration 0.03%, nanolubricant reduced up 8.1%. results that combination nanoparticles, temperature, significantly influenced This provides essential information for developing high-performance with advancing environmentally friendly tribology solutions.
